An earlier version of this poem appears in the fall 2023 edition of RUCKUS a Charter Arts Literary Magazine. Though the origional version takes most of its inspiration from Ashley M Jones' poem Summer Vacation In The Subjunctive , this version takes much more inspiration from a poem in Robin Gows collection Lanternfly August , entitled Smashing Lanternflies on the Sidewalk .Could
